The 2024 calendar is confirmed for Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España. This setup allows drivers and teams to participate in three distinct race series over six weekends, racing through five different circuits.
The expansion of the Race Ready-promoted series is unmistakable, with this year's Iberian series boasting an average of twenty-seven cars per event, and the Portuguese national championship featuring twenty-five. Notably, there has been a surge in participation from drivers and teams hailing from both Portugal and Spain.
In response to the escalating interest in GT4 and Touring Car racing in Spain, a new competition, Supercars España, was introduced to complement this evolution.
Race Ready's latest championship will unfold across four races, mirroring the format of Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade. All three series will kick off their seasons at the Circuito de Jerez on May 25 and 26.
The season progresses to Madrid with the Jarama Classic weekend on June 15 and 16, a pivotal event contributing to Supercars España. Anticipated to echo the success of 2023, where 20,000 spectators thronged the historic circuit situated at the heart of the Iberian Peninsula.
The caravan will then gather in Portugal, heading to the Autódromo do Estoril to celebrate the Estoril Summer Festival, where the second round of Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade will be held on 13 and 14 July.
After the summer break, the activity returns with the big novelty of the 2024 calendar - the visit to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, scheduled for 28 and 29 September.
The Valencian weekend will be the third round of Iberian Supercars and Supercars España, which are getting closer to defining their champions.
These two competitions will conclude at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 26 and 27 October, which will be an exciting stage for the Iberian and Spanish championships to be decided. The round at the Portimão circuit will also be the third event in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade.
The curtain falls on the Portuguese national series on November 30 and December 1 at the Autódromo do Estoril, with the much-anticipated Estoril Season Finale. Enthusiasts are poised for a reprise of the thrilling races that unfolded this year’s season showdown.
To whet the appetite for what promises to be an exhilarating and captivating season, an official test is scheduled on April 6 for the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España teams at the Autódromo do Estoril.
For Diogo Ferrão, Race Ready's CEO: "I think this is a very balanced calendar that allows us to run three championships in six events and meets the needs of the teams and drivers. These are fantastic circuits and some of the most important on the Iberian Peninsula that offer us excellent conditions for the cars to be operated as required by a competition of this level. This year we've had a lot of spectators at Jarama, Jerez, and Estoril, and I think that in 2024, with the growth of the championships and their emerging importance, we'll have even more. We'll be visiting fantastic cities that will make the competition even more interesting for the drivers and the teams. I see this as a fantastic launchpad for a season that we anticipate will build upon the promising signs we witnessed in 2022 and, most importantly, in 2023”.
