Arturo Melgar and Ignacio Cabezas will take part in the final round of 2023 Iberian Supercars Endurance and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade in the Estoril Season Finale by NAPA. The Spanish duo will drive an Audi R8 LMS GT4 from Lema Racing.
With the end of the season approaching, many drivers come to take part in the last round of this season to assess their chances for 2024.
Arturo Melgar is a young driver with experience in karting, while Ignacio Cabezas already has a long career in motorsport, including two seasons in Spain's Hill Climb races.
The Spanish duo will compete in a competitive Audi R8 LMS GT4 that will be entered by Lema Racing, alongside their usual Mercedes AMG GT4 cars, both of which are involved in the fight for the titles in their respective divisions. Arturo Melgar and Ignacio Cabezas will take part on the “Invitational Class", not scoring points for any of the divisions or categories in the championship, as they don't want to have an impact on the title decisions.
For Arturo Melgar, "being able to compete in the Iberian Supercars Endurance is a great opportunity, marking my competitive debut in GT4. I have a competitive car and a very fast and experienced team-mate. With a very full starting grid, it's undoubtedly an excellent opportunity to learn and try to achieve a good result."
Ignacio Cabezas added: “I am very excited to be competing in the Iberian Supercars Endurance with a fantastic Audi R8 LMS GT4 and to return to circuit racing after years in the Hill Climb. I hope to adapt quickly to both my new team-mate and this car and form a competitive team."
The Estoril Season Finale by NAPA will officially begin on Friday 24 November with free practice, with qualifying taking place on Saturday, while the deciding races will be held on Sunday - the first at 9.40am and the second at 2.35pm - both of which can be followed live on the competition's official social networks and the first also live on A Bola TV.
