The Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España have been experiencing tremendous success. For the opening round of the 2025 season, Race Ready has taken the opportunity to split the starting grid into two.
For the season-opening event, set to take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on April 5 and 6, more than 45 cars are expected on track - an exceptional number that is sure to be a record. This reflects the vitality of the competition, attracting more drivers and teams, which in turn translates into a growing fan base.
Although the number of registered participants remains within the maximum limit allowed at the Portimão circuit, Race Ready has decided to divide the starting grid into two to make the races even more exciting for drivers, teams, and spectators alike.
As an extraordinary measure, the organization, with the support of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and the FPAK, managed to find a schedule within the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival that allows for two exclusive races for the GTC and Touring Car categories - expected to feature around 20 competitors in total - and two separate races for the GT4 class, which will have more than 25 entries.
Thanks to cooperation with DAZN Portugal and DAZN España, all four races will be broadcast live.
Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, highlighted that “this is a unique opportunity made possible by special conditions and a more flexible schedule for the Algarve event. It’s a scenario that is unlikely to be repeated, as other events will not have the same scheduling availability. It will be an extraordinary achievement to have two grids with over 20 cars each, allowing each category to receive greater prominence. I want to thank FPAK, Parkalgar, and DAZN for working together to find a solution that benefits everyone”.
The Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España seasons will kick off next weekend at the Algarve International Circuit. The races can be followed live on DAZN Portugal, DAZN España, and the competition’s official social media channels.
