NM Racing Team has unveiled another pair of drivers from its four-car offensive for this year's Iberian Supercars, with Alba Cano and Andy Cantu sharing one of the team's Mercedes-AMG GT4s.
Hailing from the vibrant city of Malaga, Alba Cano brings a wealth of experience in Touring Cars, showcasing her prowess with impressive performances across various TCR championships. Notably, she clinched the first runner-up title in the 2022 TCR Ibérico Sprint series.
Meanwhile, crossing the Atlantic, the team welcomes the American-born, Mexican-licence, Andy Cantu, whose journey includes a notable stint in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America back in 2019. Now, he embarks on a thrilling chapter in the GT4 European Series, recently securing a commendable second place in the GT4 Am class at Paul Ricard.
Alba Cano said: I am very excited to start this new adventure in the GT4 category, it will be a big challenge as it is very different to the TCR and we are adding new circuits for me. I will have to work hard to be at the level that this championship demands with more than 30 cars on track. That is why we have decided to go with the Mercedes AMG GT4 which has shown great performance in the European Championships and there is no better option than to go with the NM Racing Team who are very experienced with both the car and the championship. I will also go with Andy Cantu, a fast and experienced driver. I hope to enjoy this season and this new challenge. I am very happy to start the first race at my home track, see you in Jerez!
Andy Cantu added: “I am very happy to be able to confirm my second programme with NM Racing Team this season, where in addition to making my debut in the GT4 European series I will also make my debut in Iberian Supercars GT4 category. My adaptation to the AMG GT4 has been very good. Together with Alba, we are very motivated to compete in the best circuits of the Iberian Peninsula in a championship as competitive as Supercars.”
The season kicks off on May 25th and 26th at Circuito Jerez in Spain.
