This year, NM Racing Team enjoyed an exceptionally competitive season, clinching numerous titles that cement its position as one of the dominant forces in Iberian motorsport championships.
The Spanish outfit fielded a formidable four-car line-up in both the Iberian Supercars and the Supercars Jarama RACE, contending for victories across all divisions in the GT4 category – GT4 Pro, GT4 Bronze, and GT4 Am.
The NM Racing Team’s Mercedes AMG GT4 cars proved to be a significant presence in the competitive championship grid. Series newcomers Keith Gatehouse and Igor Sorokin claimed the GT4 Am title in both the Iberian Supercars and the Supercars Jarama RACE, overcoming strong competition from André and Miguel Nabais, who drove Speedy Motorsport’s Porsche 718 Cayman GT4.
Alberto de Martín and Nil Montserrat were another standout pairing, securing the GT4 Bronze title in the Spanish competition and finishing as runners-up in the Iberian series after an intense battle with the Veloso Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT4 driven by Patrick Cunha and Jorge Rodrigues.
GT4 Pro line up Guillermo Aso and Filip Vava, with two GT4 division wins in the Spanish series, one of which also counted towards the Iberian championship, fought for the driver’s title until the final race. However, they were narrowly beaten by César Machado and Jan Durán, who seized third place with just two laps to go.
The GT4 Pro title slipped through their fingers, but thanks to the efforts of Andy Cantú and Alba Cano, who secured a victory in race one at Jarama, NM Racing Team claimed the Supercars Jarama RACE teams’ championship. This classification awards points from the two cars nominated by each team (or automatically nominates them when only two or fewer cars are entered).
Nil Montserrat, both driver and team principal, emphasised that the team’s success was only possible due to the collaborative spirit within the Barcelona-based squad: “Teamwork was undoubtedly the key to winning this title. It was incredible to see our eight drivers supporting each other both on and off the track. The teamwork from our entire technical staff was also crucial to securing this title.”
Montserrat highlighted the consistent competitiveness of all the Mercedes AMG GT4s fielded by the team as a season highlight: “We savoured victories in all three divisions equally. Each of our four cars achieved wins, and we thoroughly enjoyed every single one.”
This ability to be competitive across various circuits and divisions was instrumental in securing the Supercars Jarama RACE team championship. “This title is very significant for the team, and we are extremely proud as it showcases the tremendous work of our eight drivers and the entire staff. This achievement belongs to them,” Montserrat noted, further underscoring the quality of the competition: “The level of the championship was extremely high. We had qualifying sessions with fifteen drivers within the same second! The starting grid was filled with top-level drivers and teams, which reflects the strong growth of the championship.”
NM Racing Team will continue to be part of this growth, returning to the track in 2025 to defend their titles. “We’re aiming for even more! We will follow the same plan as the 2024 season, participating fully in two championships: the Iberian Supercars and the GT4 European Series,” Montserrat confirmed.
