MONTEIROS COMPETIÇÕES STRENGTHENS COMMITMENT TO IBERIAN SUPERCARS

Monteiros Competições is reinforcing its commitment to the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade with the purchase of a BMW M4 GT4 (F82).

The Portuguese team has been a regular presence in the competitions, responsible for the participation of the FPAK Junior Team, with three Ginetta G40s entrusted to young Portuguese talents. The Matosinhos-based team have also competed in the Cup division with Rui Miritta’s Porsche 911, the reigning champion of the division and the overall GTC category.

For the 2025 season, Monteiros Competições is further strengthening its presence in both championships by acquiring the BMW M4 GT4 (F82), which defended the colours of Batina Racing until the middle of last season. This car was instrumental in helping Sérgio Azevedo and Orlando Batina secure an overall win in the 2023 season.

For Team Principal Paulo Monteiro, this "is the natural progression within the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, as it is our first car with a GT4 philosophy. We are very pleased with the purchase of the BMW, which has proven to be a very competitive car".

Monteiros Competições plans to compete in both the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade with its new car in the GTX division – dedicated to GT4s that have lost their homologation. However, the driver lineup has yet to be confirmed, although a structured preparation plan is already in place.

“The drivers for the BMW for this season are not yet confirmed, but we will take part in some of the GT4 Winter Series events to adapt to the car’s demands and get to know it better so that we’re fully prepared for the season. It’s likely that some of the drivers involved in these races may continue with us in both championships”, said Paulo Monteiro.

The Monteiro brothers’ team could field another GT4 during this year’s season. “The BMW was the first step for 2025, but we may have a second GT4 car next season. We are working towards that, and there may be news soon”, concluded Paulo Monteiro.

This is the latest proof of the vitality of the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, which is set to begin at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on April 5-6, with the official pre-season test taking place at the Autódromo do Estoril on March 22.
