The Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and the Supercars Jarama RACE officially started today with free practice session at the Jerez Circuit.
The sun continues to shine intensely on the Andalusian circuit, and Miguel Lobo and Francisco Mora seem to be the ones who are the one to beat, having once again placed themselves at the top of the timing table.
The Portuguese duo of the Veloso Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 set a blistering time, completing the 4.423 kilometers of the Jerez Circuit in just 1m50.625s. Only Manuel Gião and Mathieu Martins managed to stay less than a second behind the fastest, driving the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 from Racar Motorsport.
Veloso Motorsport is in great form, and the fastest of the GT4 Bronze was the Audi R8 LMS GT4 of Jorge Rodrigues and Patrick Cunha, who recorded the fourth time just behind the Speedy Motorsport Toyota Supra GT4 EVO shared by César Machado and Jan Durán.
Miguel Nabais and André Nabais were the fastest in the GT4 Am division, placing the Speedy Motorsport-run Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 in nineteenth position on the timing table.
Daniel Teixeira, who did not participate in the tests yesterday, recorded the twenty-fifth time driving his new car, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR, which placed him at the top of the timing table among the Touring Cars class. The JT59 Racing Team driver lost his TCR division main opponent, as the Cupra TCR from JC Group Racing Team, which was supposed to be shared by Beatriz Correia and José Correia, could not be repaired in time for this weekend after the accident it suffered a week ago at the Falperra hillclimb race.
Rui Miritta performed well today and secured the best time in the Cup category, ahead of Marcus Fothergill and Dave Benett in a similar car from Tockwith Motorsports.
The newcomer Art of Speed won't be in the gird this weekend due to clutch problems in the Porsche 911 Cup of Frederico Formiga and Frederico Castro.
Series newcomers Álvaro Vela and Sébastien Villadary, representing Chefo Sport, were the fastest in the GTC category, once again showing that the Ligier JS2 R is a very competitive car capable of achieving good results, both in its division and overall.
Qualifying will be the first major challenge of the weekend, with the first session starting at 3:10 PM, followed by the others. The races will take place on Sunday, and all the action can be followed through the official social media channels, where the races (at 9:25 AM and 2:35 PM) will be broadcast live.
