Lema Racing has confirmed one car for this year’s Iberian Supercars season, with one of their Mercedes-AMG GT4s set to be shared by Norwegian brothers Andreas Vaa and Olav Vaa.

The Slovenian outfit is known as one of the competitive forces on the grid, having secured the GT drivers’ title in 2022 with Manuel Gião and Elias Niskanen, and clinching the teams’ championship in 2023. They were strong contenders for the drivers’ title until the last race of that season with Niskanen and Nuno Pires.

Lema Racing faced a more challenging campaign in 2024, with several setbacks preventing them from competing at the front. However, they are aiming to bounce back this year with the talented Norwegian duo entered in the GT4 Pro division.

Despite his young age, Olav Vaa has already built an impressive racing résumé. He began his motorsport career in 2021 in Formula Basic (a championship featuring wingless Formula Ford cars). The following year, he was a title contender and eventually became Champion in 2024, after finishing as the third-best rookie and fourth overall in the 2023 Formula Nordic series, contested with Formula 4 single-seaters. Olav also represented Norway in the FIA Motorsport Games in Formula 4 last year.

His older brother, Andreas Vaa, made his racing debut in 2022 in Formula Basic, immediately securing third place in the championship, and went on to be crowned Champion the following year. In 2024 he was vice-champion.

The brothers are excited about the new challenge ahead and are eager to compete for top positions.

“I’m thrilled to start this journey with Lema Racing. It’s an incredible team, and our goal is to fight for the top spots,” Olav stated.

Andreas echoed his brother’s optimism: “I’m very excited to join Jaka’s team this season! I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Jaka Marinsek, Lema Racing's Team Manager, expressed his confidence in the new driver pairing: “I’m really looking forward to the new Iberian Supercars season. After a test session with Olav and Andreas, we decided to enter this fantastic championship, and I truly believe we’ll be fighting for top results with the Vaa brothers!”

He also revealed that the team is still finalizing plans for their second Mercedes-AMG GT4, with one driver confirmed but the other seat still open. Additionally, Lema Racing is planning to enter a Porsche Cayman 981 in the GTX division.

The grid is shaping up nicely for the start of the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España, which will get underway at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on April 5-6. The official pre-season test will take place at the Autódromo do Estoril on March 22.
