José Correia, current Portuguese Hillclimb Champion, outlined an ambitous sporting project for the 2021 season, and in addition to the already announced title defense on the mountain, he set up another major challenge, participation in the Supercars GT4 South.
A new Iberian championship, organized by the partnership between Race Ready and TCR Euro Series, which puts GT4 and TCR models on the track and that captivated the driver from the first moment: “The change of regulation at the Portugal GT Speed Championship led me to do without the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 and choose to purchase a Mercedes AMG GT4, to integrate a competition with a similar format, but with a level of competitiveness and challenge that aroused my greatest interest. ”
“I am very curious about the coming season. It will be good to get to know a new environment, with another competition, new tracks and discover a new car ”, said the driver from Braga.
The Supercars GT4 South calendar is composed by five events and a total of three trips to Spain, disputed on the routes of Jarama, Valencia and Jerez, to which are added two contests on Portuguese soil, in Estoril and Portimão.
This time, the inaugural challenge of the year immediately marks a double debut for José Correia, who will get to know his new Mercedes AMG GT4 and Spanish circuit in the same weekend in Jarama, on the 5th and 6th of June.
This Mercedes AMG GT4 is a 5 vehicle confirmed in the championship. When there is just a month and an half until the maiden weekend, the second round of confirmations of pilots and teams that will take part in this new Iberian competition will now begin.
