The winners of the GT4 Am class in 2024 will be promoted to the GT4 Bronze division if they compete in the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, or Supercars España in 2025.
The GT4 Am division is designed for drivers holding a motorsport licence - be it in car racing or karting - who have limited experience and/or are over 50 years old, always subject to approval by the Organising Committee.
The Am class was introduced due to the high number of drivers keen to race these fantastic GT4 machines but who still had limited experience.
However, drivers who demonstrate exceptional speed during the season, consistently lapping within two seconds of the top times, will be promoted to GT4 Bronze division.
Igor Sorokin and Keith Gatehouse delivered outstanding performances throughout the season in a Mercedes-AMG GT4 run by NM Racing Team, clinching the GT4 Am title in both the Iberian Supercars and Supercars Jarama RACE, which will be officially rebranded as Supercars España this year.
Miguel and André Nabais were also highly competitive in 2024, making the most of their Speedy Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman RS CS GT4 to secure the GT4 Am title in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade.
These four drivers will be promoted to GT4 Bronze in 2025 if they return to compete in the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, or Supercars España. As of now, neither pair has confirmed their plans for the upcoming season.
Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, said: “it is extremely satisfying to see our drivers progressing and getting faster with every race. GT4 cars are not only very quick but also very safe and provide an excellent platform for newcomers, as they feature the most sophisticated driver assistance systems and telemetry, allowing for rapid development”.
The season opener for the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España will take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 5th and 6th April. The official pre-season test will be held at the Autódromo do Estoril on 22nd March.
