BMW MOTORSPORT ESPAÑA QUICKEST IN FREE PRACTICE

BMW Motorsport España's BMW M4 GT4 shared by Nerea Martí and José de los Milagros was the fastest in the free practice session of the second round of Supercars Jarama RACE at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama - RACE.

Despite the high temperatures, Nerea Martí managed to be the fastest, lapping in 1'38.478, coming very close to the time that Francisco Abreu set last year in qualifying at Jarama, 1'37.897, also at the controls of a BMW M4 GT4 (G82).

The Spanish driver left Orlando Batina, who shares the Batina Racing BMW M4 GT4 (F82) with Sérgio Azevedo, nine tenths of a second behind, but the latter didn't have new tyres. In the next three positions, and within three tenths of a second, were three Mercedes AMG GT4s from the NM Racing Team, with the advantage going to the car shared by Guillermo Aso and Filip Vava, who lost just 0.002s to the Portuguese team.

Alberto de Martín and Nil Montserrat, just behind their team-mates Alba Cano and Andy Cantu, came fifth in the timesheets and were the fastest of the GT4 Bronze pairs.

The Barcelona team was in the spotlight, as Keith Gatehouse and Igor Sorokin led the GT4 Am division, beating Smorg and Javier Macias in Promotion Motorsport's BMW M4 GT4 (G82) by just four tenths of a second.

Jemma Moore and Henrique Cruz, who is making his debut in the GTX class, took Tockqith Motorsport Ginetta to eighth place overall.

Pedro Herraiz and Samuel Gomez recorded the fifteenth fastest time of the session and were the fastest in the Turismos category in what was their first race in the Jarama RACE Supercars. Filipe Matias, in a Ginetta G40 from Monteiros Competição, was eighteenth.

The Cup division promised to be once again an intense duel between the Porsche 911 Cup cars of Rui Miritta and the duo of Dave Benett and Marcus Fothergill, with the Monteiros Competição driver prevailing over his opponents from Tockwith Motorsports.

Gabriela Correia, who posted the third fastest time in the GT4 Bronze class, crashed out, and Veloso Motorsport is assessing whether the JC Group Racing Team's Mercedes AMG GT4 can take part in qualifying this afternoon.
