Art of Speed will take on the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade this season with two Porsche 911 Cup cars, reaffirming its commitment to progressing in motorsport.
The Souselas-based team, from the Coimbra district, made select appearances in the championship last season and is now stepping up its involvement with a full-season entry. The team will field two Porsche 911 Cup cars in the GTC division, a category dedicated to trophy-spec cars, which continues to experience strong growth.
One of the German cars will be driven by João Castanheira, a driver with rallying experience who is making his circuit racing debut this year, requiring an adaptation period.
The second Porsche will be driven by Frederico Castro, a former karting champion and title winner in the 1300cc Portuguese Classic Touring Car Championship, who made a couple of appearances in the series last season.
Frederico Formiga, Team Principal of Art of Speed, is enthusiastic about the team’s expanded programme for 2025. “For Art of Speed, competing in the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade reflects our commitment to quality, innovation, and the competitive spirit that defines the world's top championships”, he stated. “Being part of this series is a privilege, as it features elite teams and drivers. At the same time, it provides a platform for us to continue growing and to establish Art of Speed on the international motorsport map”.
The 2024 Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España seasons are set to kick off at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 5-6 April.
