Araújo Competição will be entering an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for Vasco Oliveira and Guilherme Lemos in this year's Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade.
Araújo Competição stands as one of the key players in the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade. Last year, they clinched both the GTX division and GTC category titles with an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 driven by Am drivers Álvaro Ramos and Fernando Soares. The Araújo family team secured the GT4 Bronze title in 2022 with a McLaren 570S GT4 driven by Miguel Cristóvão and Francisco Carvalho.
This season, the Lisbon-based team will once again take to the track with their successful Aston Martin, which will be driven by two former Carbon Neutral Cup drivers, Vasco Oliveira and Guilherme Lemos.
Vasco Oliveira emphasizes the quality of Iberian Supercars and its conditions for this step in his career, admitting that 2024 will be a season of adapting to a new environment. "The GT4s are very interesting cars that make it easy to adapt to their demands, as well as being premium brands, which is very attractive. The championship is very interesting and highly competitive, and it's a new challenge for me. I'm aware that I'll have a lot to learn, and I intend to evolve consistently so that I can give my best," he said.
Youngster Guilherme Lemos, on the other hand, takes a bolder approach, although he recognizes that he will have to deal with very strong opposition. "This championship has very strong drivers, and this year's season will feature an even higher caliber grid. It's highly competitive and represents the best track competition on the Iberian Peninsula. It's going to be a season of a lot of new things for me, but I'm going to the track to try and get as far ahead as possible and win,” he added.
Araújo Competição has already disclosed its plan to field one of the brand new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 MY2024s in the competition, with the announcement of its drivers imminent, while also having a McLaren 570S GT4 available.
The first race of the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España will be held at the Circuito de Jerez on May 25 and 26.
